Private School Owners Promise Scholarships To Sokoto Orphanage

The milk of human kindness flowed freely from private school owners in Sokoto State as they pledged scholarships to children of Sokoto Orphanage Home.

State Chairman, National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Malam Ahmad S. Fada, disclosed their position during the NAPPS Award Night which held in Sokoto, the state capital, on Saturday.

Malam Fada said the gesture is in line with the association’s commitment to giving back to the community and promoting social responsibility.

He said that NAPPS is committed to promoting excellence in the education sector and providing support to the community.

According to him, there are 346 private schools in the state that provide employment to over 8000 teaching and non-teaching staff,thus positively impacting the North-Western state’s economy.

“Private schools do not only provide education in the state, but we contribute immensely to the socio-economic development of the state,” Fada stressed.

He urged other stakeholders and public-spirited individuals and groups to partner with the association to provide qualitative education in the state.

Speaking during the Award Night, the State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary School Education, Alhaji Tukur Alkali, who was represented by the Director, Administration, of the ministry, Abubakar Umar Salame, reiterated that education is on the 9-point agenda in the state, adding that the state government is doing a lot of projects in the sector.

According to him, with the  population of students in the state, private schools complement the government’s efforts, maintaining that “we are in support of them.”

Also speaking, the District Head of Dange, lhaji, Bello Usman, remarked that private schools have helped in addressing the wide gap in qualitative education.

He called on wealthy individuals to contribute more to the education sector for a more productive education system in the state.
