Seeking to improve health care delivery across the South-East state, Enugu State Ministry of Health has embarked on a strategic facility assessment tour, sealing not less than three illegal entities operating without license.

The monitoring and supervision team, led by the Director of Medical Services (DMS), Dr Chinyere Ezeudu, alongside other top directors from the Ministry, today clamped down on the facilities in Enugu South Local Government Area (LGA).

The supervision exercise was aimed at evaluating the quality of healthcare services, staff performance, infrastructure, patient management, and overall compliance with government’s health policies and standards in various public health facilities within the council area.

The team, moving round selected facilities, interacted directly with healthcare workers and patients while assessing operational efficiency and service delivery.

Speaking during the monitoring exercise, the DMS reaffirmed the commitment of the state government and the Ministry of Health, led by Professor George Ugwu, towards building a responsive, efficient, and people-centered healthcare system.

She emphasized that routine monitoring and supportive supervision remain critical tools for identifying gaps, strengthening accountability, and ensuring that residents receive quality healthcare services at all levels.

The directors also encouraged health workers to remain dedicated to duty, uphold professionalism, and maintain high standards of patient care.

They commended facilities that demonstrated excellence in service delivery while offering constructive recommendations in areas requiring improvement.

According to the team, “the supervision exercise is not meant to witch-hunt workers but to support continuous improvement in healthcare delivery across the state.”

The monitoring visit further highlighted the determination of the State Government to sustain ongoing reforms in the health sector and ensuring that every community benefits from accessible and qualitative healthcare services.

In response, residents and stakeholders continued to applaud the Ministry’s proactive approach towards strengthening the healthcare system and improving public confidence in government-owned health facilities.
