An employee, identified as Akeem Adeniyi Aminu, who works in a media firm has allegedly absconded with some belongings of his employers, Yoruba Premium Multimedia Limited, following an alleged refusal of his boss to gift him the sum of N250,000.

The employee was said to have been paid his December 2024 salary on December 23 in addition to a New Year bonus on January 3,2025.

He, however, reportedly begged his boss, who is resident in the United States (US), for an additional N250,000 for an undisclosed matter, which the latter was said to have declined.

The company stated that it was after this that the employee allegedly took away some items from its Lagos office and absconded with them.

The matter, the firm stated, has been reported to the police in Lagos.

In a disclaimer notice by the lawyers of Yoruba Premium Multimedia Limited and obtained by peopleandpolitics.net on Thursday, January 16, Aminu was also alleged to have, in a voice note, threatened to do some unpalatable deed to his employer.

The disclaimer stated: “This is to inform the general public that Akeem Adeniyi Iyiola Aminu is no longer a staff of Yoruba Premium Multimedia Ltd. Anyone with information about him should contact us.

“He worked with us and was given accommodation within our facility in Lagos. Having collected his December Salary as of 23rd December, 2024 and a new year Bonus on 3rd January, 2025, he sent a disturbing voice note to our MD on January 14th, 2025, demanding for a sum of N250,000 or abscond with all our electronic gadgets in the office.

“He also threatened to kill our CEO, if he refused to give him the N250,000. The matter has been reported to the Nigeria Police Force and he is presently on the run with some of our equipment.

“The general public should take notice of this that any transaction done with him since 15th January, 2025 is unauthorised; the company will not be held responsible.”

Repeated calls made by our correspondent to Aminu’s phone number to get his own side to the development, were not answered. A Short Message Service (SMS) to the line too was not responded to, as of press time.
