One of the most significant strides, the Provost noted, was domestication of the “dual mandate law” by the Benue State Legislature, explaining further that the sister College of Education Oju was part of the collaboration to achieve the intended objective.
The college boss who appreciated Gov. Alia for supporting the effort, appealed for assent to the bill for the college to operate both NCE and degree programs, a move, he noted, was designed to expand academic opportunities for students and reposition the institution for competitive participation in Nigeria’s higher education landscape.
According to the Provost, another milestone included construction of “the Early Grade Reading Resource Center, a special TETFund 2025 intervention” project.
While revealing that prioritization of welfare for staff was another feat, the Provost pointed out that prompt action led to early conclusion of the exercise because, staff got promoted timely, signifying a departure from the past.
Iyue noted that improvement in internally generated revenue would sustain the effort, justified by the establishment of the college’s entrepreneurship centre, not only for skillful knowledge but also to rake inbring revenue to meet the school’s set targets.
The college management, the Provost disclosed, has facilitated access to the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) facilities for students to ease their financial burden.
As efforts to make teaching and learning more enjoyable intensify, Iyue acknowledged that the return of peace on campus was necessary for academic and other activities to thrive in the college.
He clarified that the efforts led to activation of the college alumni body, pointing out that its successful national conference held recently, reinforced unity and opened the door for wider “engagement in mentorship, partnership and institutional development.”
