As part of the promises made by Olooye Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke, the Aare Egbe-Omo Balogun of Ibadanland, two years ago, to run a purposeful administration as the President of Jericho Businessmen Club (JBC), he has, once again, at a training, empowered another 40 youths across Oyo State in cyber security and data analytics.
The presentation of certificates to the participants was part of activities marking the end of the two-year tenure of the Adegoke-led executive, during the organization’s 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the Channel 8 Premium Hotel, Bodija, Ibadan, at the weekend.
The training was part of the JBC 2025 Summit with the theme: ‘Future-Ready Oyo State: Tech, Talent and Transformation For A Thriving Tomorrow’, which was an expanded version of the successful 2024 summit.
Speaking during the presentation, which held shortly before the commencement of the AGM and handling-over to the new executives, the immediate-past president of the club, Olooye Adegoke, a governorship aspirant on the ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), said the training reflected JBC’s commitment to giving back to society by empowering youths with future-relevant skills.
He emphasised that the JBC sees technology as a vital tool for lifting young people into economic self-sufficiency and helping them contribute to Ibadan’s and Oyo state’s development.
Olooye Adegoke maintained that the training offered immense opportunities, which participants needed to take advantage of, to brighten their careers and future diligently, advising them to aspire more.
“They should not stop; there are other certifications that they could acquire,” he said.
Also speaking, the boot camp training programme manager, Mr. Emmanuel Adesanya, who was in charge of the training, disclosed that JBC conceptualised the training programme, saying it was part of its 3rd Annual Summit held last year, explaining that the boot camp was the economic aspect of the summit.
He said JBC reached out to the Gomycode Training Institute, a leading technology education company, and partnered with it, noting that JBC provided the funds while Gomycode provided the technical aspects of the training.
Adesanya said after extensive selection process, JBC and its technical partner put the selected 40 youths through technical training.
“After training, we provided them with vouchers to write global certification examination. Some of them have been certified and with that certification, they can apply to any global organisation for employment.
“They should be insatiable. A lot of money was spent on each of them. These money should not be a waste. Wasting such investment will be a disservice. They should do more to improve their techniques skills,” he urged.
Recall that in early 2025, before the summit, JBC under Adegoke’s leadership, also empowered over 100 youths with different vocational trainings such as soap-making, tie and dye, cake-making, make-up and others, coupled with financial support for the participants.
At the end of the AGM, the new elected executives include Engr. Tunji Gafar (president), Olukunle Oyewole (vice president), Olukunle Opawale (secretary), Seyi Alaba (assistant secretary), Akinloye Olusola (treasurer), Gbolagade Dada (financial secretary), Oyesola Oyekunle (legal adviser), Wale Oyeniyi (social secretary) and Wasiu Abiola (assistant social secretary).
