FCTA,FEQAS Host Workshop On Revised National Education Quality Assurance Policy


Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and the Federal Education Quality Assurance Services (FEQAS) have joined forces to host a comprehensive workshop on the revised National Education Quality Assurance Policy.

The collaborative effort aimed to enhance education quality in FCT by ensuring that schools meet minimum standards and quality control measures.

Mandate Secretary, FCT Education Secretariat, Dr. Danlami Hayyo said that the revised policy was a comprehensive framework that addresses various facets of education quality.

He said: “The revised policy is a comprehensive framework that addresses various facets of education quality viz-a-viz monitoring, supervision, assessment, evaluation of schools and capacity development of school leaders and teachers to improve their professional skills and competencies.”

Dr. Hayyo, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, FCT Education Secretariat, Mrs. Joy Okeke, commended FEQAS for its commitment to guiding all relevant education quality assurance stakeholders towards effective implementation and realization of the vision for a world-class education system.

The workshop is expected to focus on key areas such as ‘Whole School Evaluation’, ‘Accreditation’, ‘Capacity Building’, and other key elements.

Director, Department of Quality Assurance, Mrs. Hajarat Titilayo Alayande, who is the forerunner of ensuring compliance to set educational standards in FCT, in her speech, appreciated the FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, for investing so much in helping the department achieve its goals.

She said: “I humbly wish to commend the Honourable Minister and the Mandate Secretary for Education, for promoting effective quality assurance activities in the FCT. The department will achieve its set goals strengthened by an improved policy framework that is being x-rayed today.”

Highlighting the importance of the event, she said, “this event cannot be over-emphasized bearing in mind the global and national concern and commitment to quality education and significant advancement of the Sustainable Development Goals of inclusive and equitable quality education that promotes lifelong learning opportunities for all.”

The collaboration between FCTA and FEQAS demonstrates their commitment to improving education quality in FCT in particular and the nation at large.
