BREAKING: Senator Ayogu Eze Is Dead


The former Senator for Enugu North, Ayogu Eze, is dead. He died this morning, Thursday 25th April, in Abuja.

The Senator has been down with heart-related ill health since February which confined him most of the time, to his Maitama home in Abuja.

Last February, Senator Eze was bubbly when he hosted his relatives, friends and the cream of his political associates for the traditional marriage of his daughter at City Park, Wuse II, Abuja. The event was chaired by his political mentor, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo.

He lapsed into serious ill-health few days after and was unable to attend the wedding the following weekend in Lagos. Sources say the doctors prevailed on him not to embark on any journey by air.

Senator Eze was the first State Secretary of PDP in Enugu State and served as Commissioner during the administration of Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani in Enugu State.

He became Senator for Enugu North in 2007 and was reelected in 2011. He ran for the Enugu state governorship under the PDP in 2015 and lost the party primaries to Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

He later decamped to the All Progressives Congress and ran for the 2019 governorship contest under the party’s platform and lost the election to Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of the PDP.

He was recently appointed as a Commissioner in the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
