Within Hours, Troops Rescue Some Abducted Students Of Borno School


Relief came for families of some students of a secondary school in Borno State abducted today by terrorists as they were writing the ongoing National Examinations Council (NECO) papers, with troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) rescuing 10 of them.

In a blaze of gunfire, the candidates and some teachers were abducted by suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists.

According to security sources, the incident occurred at about 9:00 a.m. when the insurgents attacked the school located in Lassa community, Askira Uba Local Government Area (LGA) of the terrorism-prone North-East state.

Intelligence sources told anti-terrorism expert Zagazola Makama that soldiers later launched a rescue operation, leading to the safe recovery of 10 of the abducted victims.

The sources said efforts were ongoing to locate and rescue any remaining victims, while security operations continue in the area.
