At Ongoing NECO Examination, Rampaging Terrorists Storm School, Reportedly Kill Teacher, Abduct Students

Perhaps seeking least resistance, suspected terrorists waited till soldiers had left on patrol to another community, then attacked Government Day Secondary School (GDSS), Lassa, Askira Uba Local Government Area (LGA) of Borno State this morning, unleashing hell on students who were writing the National Examinations Council (NECO) papers as well as teachers on ground.

In the process, a teacher was feared shot dead, another injured while an unspecified number of the students were kidnapped and subsequently taken to a yet unknown destination.

The development is the latest episode in the series highlighting the pivoting of terrorists’ strategy from community attacks and kidnaps to school abductions amid the lingering Oyo and Kwara schools’ incidents.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the State Police Command, Nahum Daso, confirmed the incident.

According to him, many students were unaccounted for following the attack.

Speaking to newsmen, some residents alleged that soldiers stationed in the area had left on a patrol to Uba, a community about 16 kilometers away, after which the attack occurred.

One of the residents disclosed: “The soldiers were not around when the terrorists invaded.

“They came in large numbers, firing sporadically and causing panic everywhere.
