The first-ever Taraba State International Investment Summit, also known as Taravest, will kick off May 21, 2025 in Jalingo, the State capital.
Chairman of the main Committee, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, stated this while answering questions from journalists shortly after inspecting the level of work done at the venue of the summit, the T.Y Danjuma House, Jalingo.
Hon. Elumelu, who was Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Power, told journalists that the summit will feature prospective investors from both local and international arenas who will be deliberating on sectors ranging from Agriculture, Energy, Industrialization and others.
On energy, according to him, as the former Chairman, Reps Committee on Power, Elumelu said he observed that the Mambilla Hydro Electric Dam is capable of generating about 12,000 megawatts of electricity, pointing out that interested investors are free to go there and invest.
“Of course, in mining, we have huge deposits of different types, focusing on gold, uranium, and others.
“On industrialization, I don’t think that anybody coming for industrialization sector in Taraba will have issues. Why? Because the Governor has been able to achieve much in the infrastructural development in the state,” he added.
Speaking on security in the state in relation to prospective investments, Hon. Elumelu said: “We have gone round on inspection, and Taraba is safe. Taraba is calm. Taraba is very friendly to Investors; they should not be afraid.”
State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, had earlier unveiled the logo for the summit at the Executive Chambers of TY Danjuma House, where he told the gathering that the event will showcase the state’s untapped potentials to would-be investors.
Presenting the logo, Gov. Kefas reiterated the significance of the item, saying it will serve as the state’s banner while engaging with investors, partners, and opinion leaders.
Asserting that the summit would signify the beginning of a new economic era for Taraba State, the Governor further disclosed that the event was aimed at wooing foreign investors to the state.
Kefas, who described the summit as the first since the state’s creation, urged all hands to be on deck for it to succeed.
In a remark, the State’s Commissioner for Information and Reorientation, Barrister Zainab Usman Jalingo, while providing insights into the composition and meaning behind the logo, explained that the summit will bring together investors across the globe.
According to the Commissioner, the theme of the summit is ‘Unlocking Taraba’s Investment Potentials: Advancing Agriculture, Energy, Mining, and Industrialization for Sustainable Growth and Development’.
She said: “The summit is expected to provide opportunities for investors to explore new collaborations and partnerships.”
