Zenith Bank Plc has appointed Dame Adaora Umeoji as the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
The appointment by Nigeria’s most capitalised bank, will take effect from June 2024. She is the first female to attain the position in the bank.
Adaora Umeoji was the Deputy Managing Director of the bank before her elevation. She succeeds Dr. Ebenezer Onyeagwu who was appointed Group Managing Director/CEO of Zenith Bank Plc on June 1, 2019.
Her appointment, which is in line with the bank’s succession plan, is subject to the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Dr. (Mrs) Umeoji holds multiple degrees, including a doctorate in Business Administration, and has completed prestigious programmes at Harvard Business School, Columbia Business School, and MIT Management Sloan School.
Dr Onyeagwu has, however, been appointed Chairman of the board of Zenith Bank, United Kingdom.
