The candidate of ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Ide Ikeje Asogwa, has emerged victorious in the just-concluded Enugu North Senatorial by-election, recording a landslide victory with 162,360 votes out of the 184,094 accredited votes.

Announcing the results in the early hours of today at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) state office, electoral officials declared Asogwa the winner after he secured a commanding lead across the senatorial district.

His closest rival, Dr. Nestor Ezeme, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), according to INEC, polled 9,299 votes to finish second in the keenly contested election.

The outcome reflects the overwhelming support enjoyed by Asogwa across the six Local Government Areas (LGA) that make up the Senatorial Zone, cementing his mandate as the Senator-elect for the district.
