BREAKING: Ningi Resigns As Northern Senators Forum Chairman


Senator Abdul Ningi, who was earlier on Tuesday suspended by the Senate, has resigned his position as Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum.

Senator Ningi was suspended for three months for peddling the allegation that the 2024 appropriation law passed by the Senate was padded to the tune of over N3 Trillion.

in the resignation letter addressed to the Secretary of the Northern Senators Forum, the Senator said his decision was connected to the development in the Senate.

Ningi who represents Bauchi Central in the Senate, has led the regional body of top lawmakers for the past 8 months.

Senate Majority Leader Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, had in his contribution to the argument over the appropriation bill, accused Ningi of planning what amounted to a civilian coup in the Red Chamber of the National Assembly.

Many other lawmakers condemned Ningi’s attempt to launch his opposition to the leadership of Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, using the Northern Governors Forum as platform.
