*’They’re Scared Of Me’

House of Representatives candidate of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for Warri federal constituency, Chief Sheriff Mulade, has dismissed claims in some quarters that he has stepped aside from the race.
He clarified that he is still in the race to represent the people of Warri federal constituency in the 2027 general election.
Mulade said the rumour of his purported ‘’stepdown’’ was orchestrated by political opponents who, to him, are scared of his candidacy.
He urged his supporters to remain steadfast and unwavering as he is set to give people-oriented and inclusive representation, if voted.
In a statement on Tuesday, signed by Director, Media and Publicity of his campaign team, Chief Sheriff Mulade Campaign Organization, Comrade Friday Ugedi, the team said: “Our attention has been drawn to a fabricated and misleading statement currently circulating on social media, falsely claiming that Chief Sheriff Mulade conceded defeat and endorsed another aspirant in the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) primary election for the Warri federal constituency.
“We wish to state categorically, unequivocally and without any ambiguity that the said statement is fake, fraudulent, concocted and the handiwork of desperate, bad-faith individuals who have been rattled by the overwhelming, massive and landslide victory recorded by Chief Sheriff Mulade during the primary election.
“The authors of this malicious publication are political merchants of falsehood whose only objective is to create confusion, mislead party faithful and manipulate public perception after suffering a humiliating rejection by delegates across the Warri federal constituency.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Chief Sheriff Mulade remains firmly in the race and is the duly elected winner of the NDC primary election for the Warri federal constituency.
”At no time did he issue any statement conceding defeat, stepping down, withdrawing from the contest or endorsing any other aspirant.
”Those behind this reckless misinformation campaign are obviously threatened by the unprecedented support enjoyed by Chief Sheriff Mulade among party members, delegates, youths, women and stakeholders across Warri North, Warri South and Warri South-West Local Government Areas.
”It is unfortunate that instead of accepting the reality of the outcome of the primary election, certain disgruntled elements have resorted to forgery, propaganda and the dissemination of fake statements in a futile attempt to overturn the will of the people.”
Continuing, the team stated: ”We therefore urge members of the public, party faithful and the media to disregard the fabricated statement in its entirety. It did not emanate from Chief Sheriff Mulade and does not represent his position or that of his campaign structure.
”Chief Sheriff Mulade remains committed to the ideals of democracy, transparency and justice, and is confident that the authentic results of the primary election will stand the test of scrutiny.
”No amount of blackmail, misinformation, forgery or political desperation can overturn the mandate freely given victory to Chief Sheriff Mulade by delegates of the Warri federal constituency.
”The victory remains intact, the mandate remains valid, and the aspiration remains on course.”
