The Warri Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has sought a strategic partnership with a reputable firm , Manroy Global Services Limited, to boost capacity building, welfare and productivity of members.
During a visit to the firm, the chapel delegation, led by its Chairman, Comrade Akpokona Omafuaire, said it was part of activities to introduce the newly elected executive to key stakeholders and organisations.
Omafuaire explained that the chapel’s current leadership emerged after an election held on 16 March,n2026, adding that the visit became necessary to deepen collaboration with organisations willing to support the media.
“Following the successful election, the chapel deemed it necessary to formally engage organisations and individuals willing to partner with the media,” he said.
The Chairman noted that members of the chapel represented various national newspapers and media organisations across the country.
He added that the union remained committed to professionalism, agenda-setting journalism and effective dissemination of information.
Omafuaire also appealed to the company to support the chapel in areas such as capacity building, internet facilities, transportation and welfare for members.
According to him, there was an urgent need for regular training and retraining of journalists, especially on Artificial Intelligence, because of the rapidly evolving media landscape.
He recalled that the chapel recently secured a permanent secretariat through the support of prominent oil security firm,Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited.
Responding, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO), Manroy Global Services, Mr Mike Taniowho, assured the delegation of the company’s readiness to partner with the chapel.
Taniowho described the company as a subsidiary of Arthur Ferdinand Limited, noting that it had remained committed to community development and corporate social responsibility initiatives.
“We remain committed to impacting lives positively and contributing to societal development,” he said.
He urged the chapel to properly outline its requests for consideration, expressing optimism that both organisations would build a productive relationship for mutual growth.
Also speaking, a Director of the company, Silver Ofugara, commended journalists for their role in informing society and promoting development.
He disclosed that the company had undertaken several community projects, including donation of transformers, educational support for schools and medical outreach programmes.
“There was a particular outreach where the company sponsored the surgery of a man who was almost blind. Today, the beneficiary has regained his sight and returned to work,” Ofugara said.
He assured the chapel of the company’s support towards enhancing the efficiency and productivity of journalists.
