Suspected Kidnappers Lure Lady From Abia To FCT, Demand N1.3m, As Police Step In

Providence smiled on a lady, identified simply as Chinyere, as she was rescued from unknown persons, suspected to be kidnappers, after they lured her to Gwagwalada, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), from her base in Arochukwu, Abia State, with a promise of employment and to partake in the famed bouquet of riches of the nation’s capital.

On getting to FCT, rather than do as promised, they kept her in a hotel in a situation akin to being detained, aware that the general environment is strange to her even as the group reportedly secretly perfected their plans behind her back.

Chairman of the Igbo Community Assembly (ICA) in Gwagwalada, Comrade Charles Ndupu, who disclosed these today (Thursday, 13 August), said the group eventually offered the lady a job, but demanded the sum of N1.3 million from her.

Apparently sensing that the entire act of ‘charity’ was a scam and fearing that worse could happen to her, including serious danger to her very life, Chinyere later managed to escape and sought help at a police station, where officers reportedly intervened and helped secure her safety, Ndupu added.

As of the time of filing this report, the lady has been handed over to her town union members in the FCT, who were preparing to take her back to Arochukwu.
