Wike, APC Governors Keep Mum On ‘Top Secret’ PH Meeting

Details of Friday’s meeting between Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike and three governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) remain top secret as none of the governors was prepared to speak on their mission.

Reports say no journalist or observers were allowed within the venue. Those who requested information on the meeting were turned back.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, and Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State arrived in Port Harcourt, the state capital for the meeting which many believe was to woo Wike into the APC.

While this has not been confirmed, many believe the Governor is unlikely to ditch the PDP for which he has worked tirelessly.

Gov. Wike

The 3 states governors on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, met with Governor Wike in his private residence in Port Harcourt.

The details of the closed-door meeting is not yet known but it may not be unconnected with the 2023 presidential election and his possible support for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was said to have met with Wike in France last week but the Tinubu media office later denied such a meeting ever took place.

Wike is believed to be aggrieved over the refusal of Atiku Abubakar to pick him as his vice presidential running mate. There are also reports that Wike is aggrieved with the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The Peoples Democratic Party has already commenced the process of reconciliation between the party’s presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and the Governor. This has brought to a stop, ongoing work on the composition of Atiku’s Campaign Organization until after the reconciliation meetings.
