NUJ FCTA Honours Education Resource Centre Director with Media-Friendly Education Leadership Recognition Award


Director of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Education Resource Centre (ERC), Dr. Neemat Daud Abdulrahim, has again been honoured with the Media-Friendly Education Leadership Recognition Award by Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCTA Chapel.

The body stated that the award is in recognition of her outstanding commitment to educational development, literacy promotion, knowledge management, and productive engagement with the media.

The prestigious award was presented during the 2026 NUJ FCTA Chapel Press Week, where distinguished personalities from various sectors were recognised for their exceptional contributions to nation-building and public service.

In her goodwill message and acceptance speech, Dr. Abdulrahim expressed profound appreciation to the leadership of NUJ FCTA Chapel, the Press Week Committee, and the entire NUJ family for the honour, describing the recognition as both humbling and inspiring.

She noted that receiving an award from journalists who are the custodians of information, public accountability, and democratic engagement holds special significance, adding that such recognition serves not only as a celebration of achievements but also as a call to greater service.

Dr. Abdulrahim reaffirmed the FCT ERC’s commitment to promoting education, literacy, knowledge management, and innovation, stressing that education and the media remain indispensable partners in building an informed, productive, and responsible society.

She also commended the organisers for the choice of the Press Week theme ‘Tax Compliance and Good Governance in the Federal Capital Territory’, describing it as timely and relevant to strengthening civic responsibility, transparency, and sustainable development.

According to her, good governance flourishes when citizens are well educated, institutions remain transparent, and the media continues to uphold professionalism, truth, and accountability.

The Director dedicated the award to the hardworking staff of ERC, the FCT Education Secretariat, and the Centre’s development partners, acknowledging their collective efforts in improving educational standards, expanding library services, promoting literacy, and advancing innovative learning initiatives across FCT.

She assured the NUJ FCTA Chapel and stakeholders that the recognition would further strengthen the Centre’s collaboration with the media in advancing quality education and ensuring that every child and community in the FCT has access to meaningful learning opportunities.

Dr. Abdulrahim concluded by thanking the NUJ FCTA Chapel, for the distinguished honour and wished the union continued success in promoting truth, accountability, ethical journalism, and national development.
