In what appears a strategic move to perfect integration and strengthen unity among different camps in Kano State’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has injected new blood into the State Executive Council while two Commissioners were reassigned.
A reliable source close to the Council told People&Politics that the cabinet shakeup became “necessary as part of efforts to accommodate and redistribute ministerial responsibility among the old and new party members.”
Recall that Gov. Yusuf and his supporters defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) early this year to the APC.
The newly appointed Commissioners and their portfolio are: Air Commodore Salisu Yusha’u (rtd), Ministry of Security and Social Services; Prof Sani Lawan Malumfashi, Higher Education; Dr. Ibrahim Aminu Tsanyawa, Science and Technology; and Idris Garba Mustapha, Special Duties.
Others include Mukhtar Ishaq Yakasai, Humanitarian and Poverty Alleviation; Ibrahim Namadi Dala, Trade and Investment.
Sanusi Bature D/Tofa and Balarabe S. Gani were awaiting swearing-in and assigning of their portfolios as of press time.
The two redeployed Commissioners are Hamza Sufyan Kachako from Ministry of Solid Minerals to Environment, and Comrade Abdullahi Waiya from Information to Youth and Sports.
The State House of Assembly had last week screened and confirmed their nomination by the Governor.
