National Chairman of opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, has expressed confidence in the party’s readiness for the 2027 general elections, declaring that Sokoto State remains a strategic political stronghold for the party.
Mark made the declaration on Wednesday while addressing party members and supporters during a political gathering in Sokoto, where he commended the people of the state for the warm reception accorded him and other national leaders of the party.
He expressed gratitude for the massive show of support from the party faithful, describing the reception as a demonstration of the party’s growing political presence in the state ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
The National Chairman said the party was determined to strengthen its structures across the country and mobilise supporters at all levels to ensure effective participation in the 2027 electoral process.
He noted that the commitment demonstrated by party members in Sokoto was encouraging, adding that the state was ready to play its part in the party’s preparations for the general elections.
In his remarks, former Sokoto State Governor and ADC leader in the state, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, declared that the State remained the home of the ADC, expressing confidence in the party’s political acceptance across the state.
Tambuwal, who reaffirmed his support for the party’s presidential ambition, maintained that the political direction of Sokoto ahead of 2027 remained firmly with the ADC.
He criticised the administration of President Bola Tinubu, alleging that the President had failed to fulfil the campaign promises made to Nigerians before assuming office.
According to him, the challenges confronting Nigerians require a different political direction, insisting that ADC provides an alternative platform for those seeking political change.
Tambuwal urged party supporters to remain committed, united and focused as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.
Also speaking, the ADC governorship candidate in Sokoto State, Hon. Manir Muhammad Dan’iya, expressed optimism about the party’s chances of making a strong showing in the forthcoming elections.
Dan’iya said the enthusiasm demonstrated by supporters during the gathering reflected their commitment to the party and its political aspirations.
He called on members to strengthen their grassroots mobilisation, maintain unity and reach out to eligible voters across the state’s 23 local government areas.
Other speakers at the gathering equally expressed confidence in the party’s growing political activities, urging supporters to work collectively towards securing electoral victories for ADC at all levels.
They maintained that the elections would provide an opportunity for Nigerians to make their choices through the ballot, while calling for peaceful political participation and a credible electoral process.
The speakers further expressed optimism that voters in Sokoto State and across the country would turn out in large numbers to support former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and other ADC candidates during the 2027 general elections.
The gathering brought together party leaders, supporters and stakeholders, who reiterated their commitment to strengthening the ADC’s political structures ahead of the polls.
