Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu, has commended the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, for his continued support for the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Sultan’s Palace in Sokoto, weekend, the First Lady praised the monarch’s commitment to the administration’s programmes and appealed for sustained support.
“Your Eminence always shows keen interest in all the programmes we are implementing under the Renewed Hope Agenda. We sincerely appreciate your support,” she said.
Mrs. Tinubu urged the Sultan to continue supporting Federal Government’s efforts to improve the lives of Nigerians through its various initiatives.
Sokoto State Governor, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu, who also spoke on the occasion, commended the First Lady for her humanitarian interventions, describing the Renewed Hope Initiative as a lifeline for vulnerable Nigerians.
According to the governor, the initiative has provided cash and food assistance to thousands of women, elderly persons, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups across the country.
He also lauded the First Lady’s commitment to agricultural development and economic empowerment, saying the programmes have positively impacted many lives.
Turning to the Sultan, Gov. Aliyu praised the monarch for his enduring role in promoting peace, national unity and harmonious coexistence, while appreciating the traditional ruler’s continued support for the Sokoto State Government.
In his remarks, the Sultan commended the Federal Government for ongoing infrastructure projects across the country, particularly the Sokoto-Gusau and Illela-Badagry road projects, expressing confidence that they would boost economic activities and improve the livelihoods of millions of Nigerians, upon completion.
The monarch also expressed satisfaction with the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative, noting that it has brought relief to many vulnerable citizens.
He called for the programme to be sustained and expanded to reach more beneficiaries.
Addressing the nation’s security challenges, the Sultan urged Nigerians to unite in tackling banditry and kidnapping.
“We need to come together if we are to overcome banditry and kidnapping in the country,” he said.
He assured both the Federal and Sokoto State Governments of the Sultanate Council’s continued support in advancing development and delivering democratic dividends to the people.
The visit was concluded with a special prayer session led by the Sarkin Malaman Sokoto, Sheikh Yahaya Na Malam Boyi, who prayed for God’s guidance, protection and success for President Bola Tinubu and Gov. Aliyu.
