Milk of human kindness flowed from Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu as he donated 1,000 Saudi Riyals (about N450,000) each to the 2,410 pilgrims from the State currently performing the 2026 Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
This was disclosed by the State Amirul Hajj (leader of pilgrimage delegation), Alhaji Muhammad Mai Gari Dingyadi, in a statement signed by Abubakar Bawa, Director General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Sokoto.
Dingyadi said the gesture was to support the pilgrims financially as they prepare for their journey back to Nigeria after completing the Hajj rites.
The Amirul Hajj praised the conduct of Sokoto pilgrims throughout their stay in the Holy Land, noting that none of them violated Saudi Arabia’s laws during the pilgrimage.
He described the pilgrims as good ambassadors of State, urging them to sustain the discipline and exemplary behaviour they displayed while performing the religious exercise.
The Amirul Hajj also reaffirmed Gov. Aliyu’s commitment to the welfare of the people of the state, particularly in matters relating to religious obligations and citizens’ wellbeing.
He further called on the pilgrims to continue praying for the success of the Aliyu administration as well as lasting peace and security in the State and Nigeria.
