The senator representing Oyo Central district, Dr. Yunus Akintunde, has facilitated the recruitment and training of not less than 25 youths from the district into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

The Deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee on Police Affairs did this “as a demonstration of commitment to youth empowerment and community development.”

A statement by his media aide, Kunle Olatunji, disclosed that the development was made open at the passing-out parade of newly recruited police officers, at the Oyo State Police Headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan, the state capital, on January 23.

Olatunji said, in a statement at the weekend: “Senator Akintunde has continued to empower individuals and strengthen communities through impactful initiatives, leaving a legacy of hope and progress in Oyo Central Senatorial District.

“This new development is a testament to his love for the well-being of the people of the district.”

Olatunji shared the inspiring story of how Senator Akintunde transformed one Opeyemi Sunday Gabriel’s life, helping him move from being a commercial motorcycle (Okada) rider to a proud Police Officer.

One Seyegolden noted in a Facebook post that: “When we were in a hopeless situation, you renewed our hope. We will forever be grateful for this unforgettable legacy.”

Olatunji quoted the senator as saying that “the hordes of people coming to thank me for facilitating their job placements should just see me as doing the job they gave me.

“What I need to go to the Senate to do is to lobby and use my position to better the lot of the people of my district and assist in making laws to make our country, Nigeria, better.”
