Less than a month after surviving a cabinet reshuffle which saw him being moved to another beat, Kano state Commissioner for Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Engr. Mohammed Diggol, on Sunday threw in the towel.
Diggol, who was moved from the Transportation Ministry to Monitoring and Evaluation only last month (December,2023), decided to resign.
He had been Transportation Commissioner from the inception of the Governor Abba Yusuf administration in 2023 till December last year.
The heavily-populated North-Western state of Kano is controlled by the opposition New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
The party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 poll was Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
A statement by media aide to Kano State Governor, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa, on Sunday said Gov. Yusuf has accepted Engr. Diggol’s resignation.
Dawakin-Tofa explained that Diggol was Transportation Commissioner and “he was later reassigned to the Ministry of Project Monitoring and Evaluation, where he served until his resignation today.”
The governor, Dawakin-Tofa added, has thanked Diggol for his contributions to the state’s development.
He stated: “Governor Yusuf expressed his gratitude to Engr. Diggol for his selfless service, unwavering commitment, dedication, and exemplary work ethic during his tenure as a member of the State Executive Council” and wished him well in his future endeavors.
