After Season-Long Heroics, Arsenal Lose 2023/2024 EPL Trophy to Man City

On the final day of the English Premier League, Arsenal beat Everton by 2-1 but lost the crown to Manchester City which beat West Ham United by 3-1.

While the trophy has eluded Arsenal for 20 long years, it is a record fourth straight win for Pep Guardiola’s side.

In the last week, permutations were rife over which team between Manchester City and Arsenal, would lift the trophy for 2024, especially after City’s victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday.

Arsenal has been hot all season and the club’s fans had looked forward to this season. The club’s heroic performance in the current season ensured that the battle for the crown went down to the final day of the season.

Arsenal had placed their hope of winning the trophy on City losing to West Ham, while at same time winning their final match at home to Everton.

Both teams have impressive records but while City have dominated the scene in recent years, Arsenal’s record over the years speaks volumes. In domestic football, it has won 13 league titles, a record 14 FA Cups, two League Cups, 17 FA Community Shields, and a Football League Centenary Trophy. But they have never won the Champions League, which many people consider the golden crown of club football.
Their domestic League titles place them at third position after Manchester United with 20 titles and Liverpool with 19. Manchester city and Everton tie at 9 titles apiece.

With the win against West Ham today, City ended its season with 91 points and Arsenal’s win against Everton only gets them 89 points.

Arsenal has never stayed this long without adding to their trophy shelf.
