*’I Think A Part Of It Was Iran. Iran Was A Piece Of It…But I’d Have Done It Again’
*Americans Said No To War, And We Endorse This Message -Iran’s Parliamentary Speaker
Several perspectives to explain the loss of ruling Republican Party’s majority both chambers of the US Congress to the opposition Democrats in yesterday’s midterm polls have been thrown up, with President Donald Trump acknowledging today that the US-Israeli war on Iran played a role in his party’s sweeping defeat in the elections.
“I think a part of it was Iran,” Trump told Fox News in an interview; “Iran was a piece of it,” he separately told the Wall Street Journal.
But despite the Republican losses – and his campaign promise of “no new wars” – Trump stood by his decision to attack Iran.
“I did the right thing,” he said in his interview with the Wall Street Journal. “I would have done it again.”
Reuters writes that the war, now in its ninth month, has been unpopular among Americans since it began. On the campaign trail, Democratic candidates across the country blamed the conflict for driving up the cost of gas and other goods.
Far away in Tehran, the US election results were met with satisfaction, even apparent jubilation, by Iranian leaders.
“Americans said NO TO WAR, and we endorse this message,” Iranian Parliamentary Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said today on X.
Qalibaf warned the US government to listen to the American people and avoid a repeat of its past mistake. He did not specify what exact “past mistake” he was referring to.
“If the US govt betrays their public will to serve international paymasters and blackmailers, it will learn our NO comes with a Nightmare,” he emphasized.
Midterm Elections Reflect Trump’s Defeat Against Iran -IRGC Adviser
Echoing the top legislator’s stance, an adviser to the Commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Hamid Reza Moqaddamfar, described the US congressional elections as a referendum on what he described as Washington’s defeat in its war against Iran, saying the outcome exposed the political consequences of Trump’s “failed aggression.”
Addressing a ceremony in Iran’s southern port city of Bandar Abbas today, Moqaddamfar referred to the results of the US congressional elections, saying, “From the perspective of the Iranian people and officials, there is essentially and fundamentally no difference between the elephants, meaning the Republicans, and the donkeys, meaning the Democrats.”
“In this respect, developments in US domestic politics are of no importance to Iran’s policymaking. However, one cannot overlook the very important fact that the debacle suffered by Trump’s party in the US elections was the result of America’s heavy defeat in its warmongering against Iran,” he added.
“These elections were, in fact, a major referendum in the United States on the outcome of the war and Americans’ opinion about the war against Iran, and they are very significant in this respect and constitute further proof of Iran’s status as a superpower,” Moqaddamfar stated.
Emphasizing that the Islamic Republic of Iran has a long history and experience of bringing down officials in the US, the expert said: “Just as God drowned Pharaoh in the Nile, through the blood of the oppressed martyrs of Minab and other martyrs of Iran, He will destroy the American and Zionist criminals, including Trump and Netanyahu.”
Referring to Imam Khomeini’s statement describing the takeover of the former US embassy in Tehran, known as the Den of Espionage, as the Second Revolution and the US coup in 1979, he noted: “After the martyrdom of General Qassem Soleimani, the martyred Imam, Grand Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, said that we would expel the United States from the region. Today, we are witnessing the unfolding of the ‘Third Revolution,’ and the process of expelling the Americans has intensified considerably following their recent defeat against Iran.”
Recalling the US withdrawals from Afghanistan and Iraq, Moqaddamfar continued, “According to American media outlets and politicians, Iran has practically destroyed almost all the bases of these longtime criminals in the region. The Americans know that they will no longer have an opportunity to rebuild their bases, and therefore they are seeking to flee the region.”
“Today, perhaps for the first time in history, not only does no US military fleet, but no extra-regional military fleet at all, dare to enter the Persian Gulf. Out of fear of Iran’s warship-destroying missiles, the Americans have taken refuge with their warships and military vessels at a distance of 400 to 500 kilometers!” he stated.
“Today, the America that once considered itself a superpower takes pride in nothing but having become the world’s greatest censor of its losses in the region and the world’s most cowardly smuggler! This is the fate of all arrogant criminals who confront a freedom-loving nation like Iran,” Moqaddamfar alleged.
“If American media outlets are not afraid of Trump, let them come to the Strait of Hormuz and see whether the scale of the strikes inflicted on vessels that violate the rules is consistent with what their officials claim or not. Let them see for themselves whether the strait is open as Trump says, or whether this Pinocchio is feeding them big lies,” the adviser stated.
He then added that the “Fourth Revolution,” meaning the perceived collapse of the American empire in the world, would materialize in the near future.
“The ‘Hormuz Moment’ has happened to the Americans, and this issue is irreversible. God willing, another criminal empire will soon join the dustbin of history,” he said.
Referring to signs of the decline of US hegemony and hard power, Moqaddamfar pointed to alleged widespread global hatred of Trump and Netanyahu, and said, “In just the past day or two, Iran shot down the 56th advanced American drone and has so far destroyed more than 42 of their highly advanced aircraft, including their military pride and prestige, the F-35, as well as refueling aircraft.
“Iran has shown everyone that relying on the US for security and military protection is foolish. Therefore, the transformation of the global military-security order by Iran is an issue acknowledged by almost all Western think tanks and media outlets.”
The adviser to the IRGC commander warned: “If the US or the Zionists take any action, Iran will respond with its new doctrine and new technology in conventional weapons, delivering responses different from those of the past.”
