A group under the aegis of Mbachoghur Development Association (MDA), Tarka Local Government Area (LGA) of Benue State, has lauded the state Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia for the state’s rapid development through pragmatic leadership, hard work and commitment.

Speaking during the weekend when the group paid a courtesy call on their son, who is the Director of Research and Publication, Benue Public Service Institute (PBSI), Dr. Mark Nyitse, at the latter’s residence in Makurdi, the state capital, MDA Chairman, Akpera Sylvester Tyogema, and the group’s Treasurer, Zaki Tyotom Akpen, lauded the Governor for his love for Mbachoughur community and for choosing one of their sons, Dr. Nyitse, a research expert, to contribute his quota to his government and for the overall development of the state.

The spokespersons also urged the Governor to remain resolute towards ensuring the continued security and safety of Tarka people, especially the Mbachoughur community, which shares boundaries with the flashpoints of Buruku and Guma LGAs.

As the group showered blessings on their son, they also charged him to always put the interest of the State in all his dealings, and to also pledge his loyalty to Gov. Alia as his principal.

In his response, Dr Nyitse, who was overwhelmed with joy over the visit, appreciated the leadership of the community for the honour, adding that it was the first since he assumed office.

The research expert, who pledged his support to the group, promised to remain a good Ambassador of the community and appealed to them to keep faith with the Alia administration, as it was full of positive programmes of development, including for the youth who are committed to engaging in meaningful ventures.

Dr. Nyitse appreciated Akpen for his peace initiatives in Mbachoughur community, urging him to continue to foster peace and unity in the interest of the people even as he sued for prayers and support for all leaders in the State.

Other prominent members of the group who were part of the courtesy visit included the Vice Chairman, Shima Akighir, and Secretary, Mike Terhemen, amongst others.

Meanwhile, immediate past Governor of the State, Chief Samuel Ortom, has congratulated three sons of the state who have been nominated by President Bola Tinubu to the Board of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC).

A statement by his media aide, Terver Akase, said Chief Ortom congratulated Barrister Cosmas Akighir, who has been nominated as Chairman of the NCDC Board; Hon. James Abel Uloko, nominated as Executive Director; and Engr. Abraham Atotse as member of the Commission’s Board, describing them as round pegs in round holes.

The former Governor, according to the statement, was optimistic that the trio would use their wealth of experience to pioneer the nascent Commission and galvanize its operations to benefit the people of the region.

Ortom noted that most parts of the region have been devastated and traumatized by incessant attacks by armed herders and other terrorist groups but expressed the belief that the Commission would maximally benefit the region.
