Federal Varsity Gusau Appoints First Female Registrar


The Governing Council of Federal University Gusau (FUGUS), Zamfara State, has approved the appointment of Hajiya Nafisa Barau Suleiman, as the third substantive Registrar of the University.

The appointment was approved at the 29th Meeting of the Council which held from Tuesday, April 22 to Friday, April 25, 2025, in Abuja.

According to a press statement signed by Head of the university’s Media and Communications Committee, Dr Linus Akor, a copy of which was made available to PeopleandPolitics.net today, Hajiya Suleiman who holds an M.A. English Language degree from the Usmanu Danfodiyo University (UDUS), Sokoto, is the first female Registrar of the 12-year old institution.

Prior to the appointment, Hajiya Suleiman had acted as Registrar, following the completion of tenure of the former Registrar, Malam Yakubu Anivbassa, on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.

Hajiya Suleiman was also the Deputy Registrar in the Office of the Vice Chancellor, responsible for the day-to-day administrative and related activities of the Office,Dr Akor stated.

Delving into the commendable background of the new Registrar, Dr Akor added that she equally served as the Faculty Officer, Faculty of Humanities and Education before it was split in two.

The statement also read in part: “Hajiya N.B. Suleiman is a representative of the University Convocation in the current Governing Council of the University.

“The new Registrar who had served as Senior Staff Officer (Establishment Division) and Head, Staff Development Office, is expected to bring her wealth of administrative and allied experience to bear positively on the running of the exalted office.”

The university spokesman said the management wished the “new appointee Allah’s support and guidance in the discharge of the responsibilities attached to the office.”
