Kefas Commissions Private TV Station In Taraba

Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has commissioned a private television station, Kwararafa TV, in the North-East State.

The starion, our correspondent gathered, is established at Wukari, headquarters of Wukari Local Government Area (LGA) of the State.

Performing the ceremony at Wukari, traditional home place of the ancient Kwararafa Kingdom, Gov. Kefas expressed joy over the vision that led to the setting up of the sight-and-sound news medium, explaining that it will contribute to the state’s development and growth.

Pledging to give every necessary support to the outfit because of its vision to inform, educate and entertain the populace, Gov. Kefas added that the envisaged efforts of the media house in society’s development and growth must not be compromised.

He congratulated the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kwararafa TV, Chief Ezekiel Afukonyo and his team, saying he is impressed with their vision of trying to promote cultural heritage amongst people of Kwararafa Kingdom.

While calling on the immediate community to guard and protect the facility, Kefas charged the staff of the company to narrate areas they need support in, saying the state government is always there for them.

In a remark, Chief Afukonyo thanked God and all those who contributed immensely towards the birthing of the private TV station in the area.

Afukonyo said the station though looks small, bot is “a very big vision.”

He added that Kwararafa TV is a station that seeks to unite all descendants of the old Kwararafa Kingdom.

“It’s a television and a platform that we intend to use to bring our people together, in sharing our common heritage, cultural and other ways of living.

“We, the Kwararafa Kingdom, occupy almost 25 states in Nigeria. If you go to Benue State, our people are there; go to Cross River State; go to the East; Plateau State, among other States in the federation; you will find the Kwararafa people.

“The headquarters of the Kwararafa Kingdom is in Wukari and that’s why we chose to establish the television station here.

“This vision needs the support of our people and those who love the Kwararafa Kingdom “, he added.

Chief Afukonyo prayed for the TV station to actualize the dreams “to unite and revive our people.”

“The TV station will showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Kwararafa Kingdom to the outside world,” he explained.
