The announcement was made in Enugu by Director-General (DG), National Council for Arts and Culture, Obi Asika, during the Culture and Creative Economy Summit, which was held at Landmark Nike Lake Resort Hotel, Enugu. Seeing this name as unwieldy, cumbersome, tongue-twisting and bumpy to pronounce, the lawmakers renamed it simply as Father Adasu University Makurdi (FAUM).
