Oyo State Police Command said it has kicked off investigations into the reported abduction of Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, sister of ex-Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her 12-year-old twin sons this morning in Ibadan, the state capital.
A family statement had revealed that the trio was kidnapped about 7:30am as she drove the children to school.
A statement issued by the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Ayanlade Olayinka, a Deputy Superintendent (DSP), disclosed that upon receiving information about the incident, the State Commissioner of Police immediately directed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Challenge Division, alongside other tactical units, to move to the scene of the incident.
According to the police, the victim’s vehicle was recovered at the scene, while intensive investigations had since begun to determine the circumstances surrounding the abduction even as detectives are determined to track down those responsible.
The Command assured residents that all necessary resources and operational assets had been deployed to facilitate the safe rescue of the victims and ensure the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators.
“The command wishes to assure members of the public that all necessary resources have been deployed to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and the apprehension of those responsible for this criminal act,” the statement read.
Police authorities further noted that investigations were ongoing and pledged to keep the public informed of significant developments as efforts continued.
The Command appealed to residents to remain calm, law-abiding and vigilant, while urging anyone with useful information that could assist ongoing investigations to promptly report such to the nearest police station or relevant security agencies.
