*As Tragedy Rocks Family Within Months
The family of the dead pilot of the military helicopter that crashed on Wednesday in Ghana killing the country’s Defence Minister, Dr Edward Kofi Boamah, his cabinet colleague, and other top officials, has lost three siblings in the last couple of months.
The country has declared three days of mourning with investigation ongoing into the cause of the mishap.
In a tragic tale on the pilot’s family, the pilot, Squadron Leader Peter Abaafeme Anala, had recently lost two siblings before he perished in the crash.
The first was on March 31, 2025, when his senior sister, Grace Lena Anala died in Virginia, US, and was buried on June 2, 2025 in Virginia, according to a report in Graphic Online .
Her burial programme and interment were reportedly officiated by her own junior brother who was a Catholic priest in Mississipi, Rev. Fr. Anthony Anala SVD.
In a tragic twist, Rev. Fr. Anthony Anala SVD on his part died on June 20, 2025, –same month his sister was buried –and his remains were interred on June 24, 2025.
Then on August 6, 2025 Squadron Leader Peter Anala, the last baby of the family, also died, in the helicopter crash.
He was married with a child.
The crash occurred at Adansi Akrofuom as the officials were on their way from Accra, the Ghana capital, to Obuasi for an official event.
