HURIWA Founder, Onwubiko, Loses Sister
Mrs. Patricia Okereke (Nee Onwubiko), the eldest sister of founder of foremost civil rights advocacy group in Nigeria, Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA), has passed on, May 1, 2025 in Abuja, Nigeria's capital. Confirmation of the unfortunate news came in a statement by the National Coordinator, HURIWA, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, the activist who was a National Commissioner of the Nigerian Human Rights Commission. The HURIWA founder disclosed that Mrs. Okereke, who was a mother of six and had many grand children, died after a very brief illness in the wee hours of May 1, 2025.
