A statement by the family leader, the Bada Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Olumuyiwa Makinde, disclosed that Engr. Makinde’s "sudden death occurred at his Ibadan residence at 3:20 a.m. on Friday, January 24, 2025." It was learnt that the deceased is "survived by his siblings, including Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State as well as children and grandchildren."
