United States(US)-based political advisory and lobbying firm, Von Batten-Montague-York, has declared that the government of President Donald will not allow President Bola Tinubu to rig Nigeria’s 2027 general elections,if he intends to.
Batten-Montague-York made the assertion in a post on its verified X handle today (Thursday, 24 September).
The firm also alleged that, regardless of political leaning, there is a growing consensus that the Tinubu-led Federal Government (FG) cannot be decorated in glory in corruption-free assessment.
Recall that then-President of the US, Barack Obama, played a critical role in Nigeria’s 2015 presidential election, even doing a video to Nigerian voters, few days to the poll, asking them to turn the next page, aside the visit by US Secretary of State, John Kerry, on 25, 2015 where he met separately with opposition leaders as well as then-President Goodluck Jonathan.
According to Batten-Montague-York, Tinubu appointed an individual whom the US Department of Justice (DoJ) said had allegedly embezzled billions from Nigeria’s treasury during a previous administration to serve as Nigeria’s current Minister in charge of the nation’s budget.
“The US cannot afford to allow President Tinubu to rig the upcoming Nigerian election.
“This level of lawlessness in the Nigerian government puts Nigeria on a path similar to those seen in Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso.
“Free and fair elections in Nigeria are essential to protecting US interests in Nigeria and the broader region,” the firm tweeted.
American journalist and transparency activist Aaron Greenspan has identified at least three separate US cases connected to a drug-trafficking network that he said were investigated by American law-enforcement agencies in the 1990s, including proceedings involving President Ahmed Tinubu and Nigerian businessman Abiodun Agbele.
Also, Greenspan also raised the possibility of a fourth case involving Tinubu, potentially a criminal indictment filed under seal, although he stressed that he has no conclusive evidence that such an indictment exists.
Greenspan disclosed the details in an exclusive interview with Laolu Akande, founder of Empowered Newswire, published on Wednesday.
