*We Targeted Only Military Installations, America Fires Back
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf condemned recent US attacks on Iranian civilians, describing Washington as “Satan” and denouncing it for allegedly deliberately targeting children and families.
In a post on his X account on Wednesday, Qalibaf cited the US attacks on a school in Iran’s Minab, a sports hall in Lamerd and a wedding ceremony in Kuhestak, saying the pattern of civilian casualties allegedly reveals the nature of the US actions.
But the US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that the US military never targets civilians, contrasting their actions with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
CENTCOM explained that Tuesday’s heavy airstrikes targeted specific Iranian military infrastructure, including air defense radar systems, maritime assets, and mine-laying capabilities.
However, the Iranian hierarchy will have none of that explanation.
“Minab school: children massacred. Lamerd sports hall: kids slaughtered. Kouhestak wedding: children killed with families,” Qalibaf wrote.
“If a power acts like Satan, picks targets like Satan, and kills like Satan, it’s Satan,” he stated, of the US.
“Shields a junior Satan that does the same? It’s THE Great Satan,” the Speaker added.
Iran’s Soon-To-Be Unveiled Strategy Will Shatter The US -Highest Security Chief
On his part, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC),nMajor General Mohsen Rezaei, warned the US that Iran’s new strategy will shatter its foundation.
General Rezaei predicted in a statement posted on X that the US’s “desperate” attempts to salvage what he described as the ongoing imposed war will fail, disclosing that a newly adopted Iranian strategy will dismantle its regional presence.
The security chief addressed what he perceived as the mounting panic in Washington and Tel Aviv as the war against Iran stretches into its seventh month.
“With this desperate flailing, not only will you fail to climb out of the depths of the hell you have created for yourselves, but you will soon witness how Iran’s new strategy in the battlefield, diplomacy, and countering the economic blockade will shatter your foundations,” he posted.
Foreign Ministry Denounces Wedding Attack as Another Sign of US Moral Collapse
Also, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei denounced the US bombing of the wedding ceremony as another sign of what he called Washington’s moral collapse after the attack killed and wounded over 70 Iranian civilians, including women and children.
Baqaei made the remarks in a post on X following the attack on Tuesday night.
“The truth of the illegal US war against Iran was put on display last night in Sirik, where a wedding ceremony was bombed as part of the US desperate attempt to hide its defeat,” Baqaei wrote on Wednesday.
“The reality is the crimes that the US commits, not AI-generated videos that falsely portray US officials as moral and victorious heroes,” he said.
Baqaei further cited American author Tim O’Brien’s book The Things They Carried, writing: “A true war story is never moral… if a story seems moral, do not believe it.”
Iran’s Red Crescent Urges ICC To Investigate US Attack On Wedding
Expressing its anger too, Iran’s Red Crescent Society (IRCS) called on the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate the US missile attack on the wedding ceremony in Kuhestak.
In a letter to the ICC’s Office of the Prosecutor, the IRCS said the attack, reportedly carried out by US forces against a civilian gathering, raised serious concerns under international humanitarian law and warranted an independent investigation.
“Given the reported civilian character of the location as the venue of a family wedding ceremony, as well as the presence of civilians at the site, the incident raises serious concerns under international humanitarian law and warrants an independent, impartial, thorough, and effective investigation,” the IRCS said.
According to the Iranian Red Crescent, the attack occurred at approximately 21:30 local time and targeted a wedding ceremony in Kuhestak, Sirik County, Hormozgan Province.
The organization said preliminary information indicated that at least four people had been killed and approximately 67 others injured, warning that the death toll could rise because some of the wounded were in critical condition.
The IRCS said the attack could entail individual criminal responsibility under international criminal law if the relevant elements established under the Rome Statute were met.
“Intentionally launching an attack in the knowledge that such attack will cause incidental loss of civilian life or injury to civilians that would be clearly excessive in relation to the concrete and direct overall military advantage anticipated may, subject to the conditions and elements prescribed by the Rome Statute, give rise to individual criminal responsibility under international criminal law,” the letter said.
The organization stressed that international humanitarian law requires parties to armed conflict to distinguish between civilians and combatants and between civilian objects and military objectives.
It also noted that civilians and civilian populations must not be the object of attack and that indiscriminate attacks are prohibited.
Furthermore, the IRCS said parties to a conflict are required to take all feasible precautions in planning and carrying out military operations to verify the nature of targets and minimize civilian casualties.
The Iranian Red Crescent said that if an independent investigation established that the wedding venue and those present were civilian in character, or that no lawful military objective existed at the site, the US attack could constitute a serious violation of international humanitarian law and, where the relevant legal elements were established, a war crime.
The organization called on the ICC’s Office of the Prosecutor to receive and assess the information concerning the attack, preserve and evaluate relevant evidence, and take appropriate measures within its legal mandate if the jurisdictional requirements under the Rome Statute were met.
