Also, troops of Sector 2, Operation Fansan Yamma, have dislodged suspected Lakurawa terrorists from their hideouts in Kebbi State, recovering a cache of weapons, explosives and other equipment during a successful offensive operation.
The operation was carried out on 14 June, 2026, around the Dogon Daji area of Dandi LGA, according to a statement issued by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 8 Division, Nigerian Army and Sector 2 Operation Fansan Yamma, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba.
Osoba said the troops engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon their positions and flee.
The soldiers subsequently pursued the fleeing suspects along their escape routes, leading to the recovery of a large quantity of arms and logistics items.
Items recovered from the abandoned camps, according to him, included Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) launch tubes, several RPG warheads, multiple Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), two motorcycles, battery chargers and other personal belongings linked to the suspects.
He added that the operation was completed without any casualties among the troops.
The Army spokesman described the development as another significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist and bandit networks operating across the North-West.
According to him, Operation Fansan Yamma remains committed to sustaining offensive operations against criminal elements, denying them freedom of movement and disrupting activities that threaten the safety of communities in the region.
The latest successes come amid intensified military operations aimed at restoring peace and security in parts of the North-West affected by terrorism and banditry.
