Against the acrimony and bad blood which marked the process of nomination of consensus candidates on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in many parts of Benue State ahead 2027, the exercise in Tarka State constituency was peaceful and accepted by stakeholders in the area.
The House of Assembly seat for the constituency was zoned to Mbaayo council ward.
Speaking on the outcome of the nomination exercise, the House of Assembly nominee for Tarka State constituency, Dr. Mark Nyitse, thanked people of the constituency for what he described as their orderliness and commitment to the progress of the area, insisting that he would remain grateful for the “uncommon courage” exhibited during the exercise,deemed peaceful and acceptable.
Dr. Nyitse, who is reputed to be one of those that championed the establishment of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) by the Federal Government (FG), assured that he would remain committed to anything capable of bringing development to the state, region and the country at large.
The. university don vowed not to disappoint the people of his constituency.
He noted that noone from Mbaayo council ward had held any elective position since 1999, stressing therefore, that his nomination from the ward was “the right thing.”
Dr. Nyitse emphasized that the people of Tarka have taken after renowned Middle Belt leader, the late Senator Joseph Sarwuan Tarka, adding that their decision was to follow the icon’s footsteps to enable them succeed.
Already, some major stakeholders in Benue politics have hailed the decision of Tarka stakeholders to nominate Dr. Nyitse for Tarka State constituency seat.
One of them, the Benue State Coordinator, Renewed Hope Agenda for Tinubu/ Alia 2027, Amb. Terhemen Tarzoor, commended Mbakor stakeholders for their “discerning endorsement” of Dr. Nyitse, describing the decision as both thoughtful and strategic.
The former Nigerian Ambassador to Namibia noted that effective lawmaking demands integrity, experience, and sound intellect which were qualities, to him, Nyitse possesses, further praising the candidate as a consummate grassroots politician.
He cited his tenure as Vice Chairman of Tarka Local Government Council, his refined social intelligence, humility, and philanthropic disposition as distinguishing strengths.
Tarzoor urged Mbakor stakeholders to remain united and resolute in ensuring electoral success for the candidate.
