Kaduna School Wins Authentic News Award

In a feat underscoring its commitment to educational excellence, Girau International School (GIS), Kaduna, has been awarded the Authentic Primary School Of The Year 2024.

The accolade was presented during the 10th Annual Authentic News Daily Awards and Lecture held at the Auditorium Hall of Arewa House, Kaduna,North-West Nigeria.

Authentic News Daily, a multiple award-winning publication with headquarters in Kaduna, celebrated leaders, individuals, and educational institutions that have demonstrated outstanding contributions to the development of primary education in Nigeria.

The event, which took place at the weekend, attracted dignitaries, educators, and community leaders, to honor the achievements of individuals and institutions across the nation.

Girau International School, renowned for its innovative approach to learning, uses blended Nigerian and British curricular.

With a strong focus on developing early readers, GIS has a reputation that emphasizes comprehensive educational development through dedicated reading time that incorporates phonics, fluency, vocabulary enhancement, and key reading strategies to bolster comprehension.

The school also takes pride in its experienced teachers and commitment to providing a secure and eco-friendly learning environment.

This year’s awards lecture, themed ‘Religion As A Tool For Peace Aand National Unity’, featured a distinguished panel of speakers.

The keynote address was delivered by retired General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, former Chief of Army Staff, who emphasized the importance of unity in diversity.

Buratai, represented by Major Gen. Bulama Biu (rtd), Sarkin Yakin Biu & Askira Emirates, remarked: “This award, the Authentic Award of Recognition Year 2024, is not merely a plaque or a title. It is a silent testament to a journey traveled with discipline, devotion, and an unshaken faith in Nigeria’s promise.”

He further highlighted the relevance of this year’s theme, stating, “religion as a tool for peace and national unity cannot come at a better time than now. It is common knowledge that all religions acknowledge peace and preach peace in our human engagements.”

The event also featured insights from Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for 19 Northern States and FCT, Rev. Joseph John Hayab, and an Islamic cleric and Northern Coordinator for the Global Peace Foundation Nigeria, Sheik Haliru Maraye, who provided valuable perspectives from their respective faiths.

The ceremony not only celebrated the achievements of GIS but also underscored the critical role of education in promoting understanding and collaboration among diverse communities in Nigeria.
