Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has sworn-in a new State Head of Civil Service (HOS). He is Dr. Ahmed Hamidu Kara.
The ceremony took place Thursday, February 27, at the Executive Council (Exco) Chamber of TY Danjuma Government House, Jalingo,the State capital.
In his remarks, Gov. Kefas advised the new HOS to introduce innovative strategies that would enhance the State’s civil service system.
The governor further tasked Dr. Kara to ensure an efficient and result-oriented workforce.
“The event aligns with my administration’s commitment to strengthening the civil service.
“My government has high regard for the State’s civil service and I urge you, the new Head of Service, to introduce innovative strategies to enhance the civil service system,” he said.
Kefas also stressed that promotions and other benefits should be strictly merit-based, warning that any system that fails to reward excellence would not thrive under his administration.
He further emphasized that the civil service must consistently uphold its responsibilities, stating that, going forward, his administration would demand results, not excuses.
He noted that Dr. Kara’s appointment was based on his proven track record of excellence and service.
In his response, Kara expressed gratitude to Gov. Kefas for the appointment, pledging to strengthen the workforce and prioritize staff training and welfare.
He assured the governor of his unwavering commitment to the state’s progress, urging civil servants to demonstrate dedication to their duties.
Dr. Kara highlighted the importance of promoting the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to drive efficiency in the civil service.
