Alia Delivering Verifiable, Transformative Service, Says DG

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State, North-Central Nigeria, is fully committed to the development of the state and is practically showing it.

The Director General (DG) of the state’s Bureau of Special Projects and Infrastructure, Professor Gabriel Akpen, disclosed this on Thursday, February 27, while addressing journalists at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) House in Makurdi,the State capital.

Professor Akpen noted that the commitment of the governor to the state’s development has propelled his administration to construct roads as well as other projects in various parts of the state.

Giving some details, the DG said that about 20 roads were being constructed in Makurdi,adding that the contractors have been mobilized with 50 percent of the contract sum.

According to Professor Akpen, the work on new Government House Complex was ongoing to enable the state possess a befitting structure for its leader.

Akpen informed that contract has been awarded for the 52-kilometer Awajir-Oju road with the contractor already mobilized to site just as work is ongoing on the Adikpo-Kotitough-Vandeikya road.

The DG, who revealed that dualization of Ishaya Bakut road was ongoing, among other road projects in different parts of the state, further disclosed that contract has been awarded for construction of canals both at Idye and Benue Links area, to check flooding.

He stated that the survey for more road projects was being conducted for the benefit of people of the state, revealing that 33 erosion control sites have been identified to check erosion in the state.
