The Okere of Sakiland, Oyo State, Oba (Dr.) Khalid Oyeniyi Olabisi Oyedepo III, has urged residents of Saki and adjoining communities to remain vigilant, but not panic, following a nationwide security alert over possible terrorist attacks.

The paramount ruler urged his subjects to remain calm, stressing that there was no immediate cause for alarm.

His call came after the Nigeria Police alerted its formations nationwide to intelligence indicating possible attacks on schools, places of worship, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camps and other vulnerable locations.

According to a statement from his palace on Wednesday, the Okere urged traditional and religious leaders, community stakeholders, parents, school authorities and residents to act as watchdogs within their communities.

He warned against spreading unverified information that could cause unnecessary fear, stressing the importance of vigilance and cooperation with security agencies.

“There is no cause for alarm; but we must not take security for granted. All stakeholders are urged to remain vigilant, act as watchdogs and report any suspicious activity, person, vehicle or movement to the relevant authorities.

“Security is a collective responsibility. Timely information and cooperation can help prevent threats,” he said.
