A group, Fabulous Sisters, marked the second anniversary of its formation in grand style with a celebration of sisterhood, love, growth, and impact, at RIC Empire Garden, Abuja.

The event, themed ‘Sisterhood, Love, Growth and Impact’, which took place last Sunday, brought together members of the group for a memorable celebration replete with fun, food, inspiration, and a special health session aimed at empowering women in different stages of life.

In her welcome address, President of Fabulous Sisters, Mrs. Ogechukwu Udegbunam, noted that the past two years had been filled with unforgettable memories, personal growth, and meaningful impact among members.

She explained that the anniversary was not just an opportunity to celebrate the group’s achievements, but also a platform to educate, encourage, and support one another.

A major highlight of the celebration was a health talk on ‘Menopause and Self-Medication’, delivered by the guest speaker, Amarachi Onyenemezu, a nurse.

She explained that menopause is a natural phase in a woman’s life, stressing that understanding the changes that occur in the body is essential to managing the transition effectively.

Onyenemezu spoke extensively on some common symptoms associated with menopause, including hot flushes, mood swings, sleep disturbances, fatigue, and concerns relating to bone health.

The medical personnel strongly cautioned women against self-medication, describing the practice as dangerous and potentially counter-productive.

According to her, taking medications without proper medical advice can result in complications, drug-related problems, and the worsening of underlying health conditions.

She advised women to seek professional medical attention and undergo appropriate tests to determine the actual cause of any illness before taking any medication.

The nurse encouraged them to maintain a healthy lifestyle, seek timely medical care, and create an environment where they can openly discuss issues relating to their health without fear or embarrassment.

Responding, members described the health session as eye-opening, informative, and timely, noting that it provided useful information and practical guidance on healthy living and responsible healthcare decisions.

Colour, gaiety and variety spiced up the lively occasion as music, games, testimonies, laughter, and networking added to the spirit of camaraderie pervading the atmosphere, with excited members also reflecting on the group’s journey of two years of love, countless memories, and lasting impact.
