Benue Agog As First Lady Remi Tinubu Visits To Inaugurate Roads, Others

First Lady and National Chairman, Renewed Hope Initiative , Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is expected to inaugurate at least 10 roads in Benue State during her visit on Tuesday, 16 June, 2026.

A statement by Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor, Tersoo Kula, revealed that “Benue State is set to host the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and National Chairman, Renewed Hope Initiative, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, in what promises to be a memorable and impactful visit for the people of the state, particularly women.”

The statement named the roads to be commissioned as the dual carriageway Ishaya Bakut Road; Off Ishaya Bakut Road (Spur 1); Off Ishaya Bakut Road (Spur 2); Off Ishaya Bakut Road (Spur 3); Abu King Shuluwa Road and Mama Mbateren Alia Street (former Keke Napep Road).

Other roads include Dabo Plaza to Fashion Hub Road; Sir James Iorpuu Street; Tyagher Gbaa Street and Jato-Aka Road.

Reports said there are over 45 roads executed by the State Governor Hyacinth Alia.

The governor’s spokesman stated that “the visit forms part of the Renewed Hope Initiative, a nationwide programme dedicated to empowering women, strengthening families, and improving the wellbeing of vulnerable groups across the country.”

He added: “While in Benue, the First Lady will engage with women and beneficiaries of the initiative as part of efforts to deepen its impact at the grassroots.”

Kula quoted Gov. Alia as expressing his pleasure over the visit, describing it as another positive step in the collaborative efforts of the Federal and State Governments to improve the lives of the citizenry, especially women and families.

After the inauguration of the roads, the statement continued, the First Lady is expected to proceed to Ihugh, where she is billed to perform the commissioning and hand-over ceremony of the Community ICT Centre in the area.

State Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady/Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Mrs. Scholastica Bensor, is quoted to have said all preparations have been concluded for a successful outing, revealing that women across the State were already excited and eagerly looking forward to welcoming Senator Tinubu.

She called on “women, community leaders, support groups, and members of the public to turn out in large numbers to receive the First Lady and demonstrate the warmth, hospitality, and unity for which Benue people are known.”
