The candidacy of Alhaji Kehinde Olaosebikan for the Oluyole Federal Constituency seat will bring back all defected All Progressives Congress (APC) members and increase the party’s membership exponentially in all the 10 wards of the council.
A group, Oluyole United, comprising youths and leaders of the party gave the assurance amid reports of defection of supporters of the House of Representatives member representing the constituency, Hon. Tolu Akande-Sadipe, to a rival party.
The media was awash with reports of Rep Akande-Sadipe, at a meeting in Oyo State with stakeholders last Friday, lamenting the defection of her key supporters.
The supporters, according to reports, decided to politically jilt the lawmaker when her promise to secure the entire Executive Committee of the party to them under her group, Community Relations Volunteers (CRV), reportedly failed to materialize.
Dejected, the supporters quit the party and openly teamed up with Accord Party.
Oluyole United, in a statement issued in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Tuesday and signed by Chairman and Secretary of the group, Mr. Yekeen Ajibola Oba and Chief (Mrs) Funmi Adedokun, respectively, assured the party’s state and national headquarters, members and the progressive family across the world, that the candidacy of Olaosebikan, fondly called ‘Call me Kenny’ by the people of Oluyole, and ‘KO’ by others, would bring back the defectors and attract several others into the party.
They stated: “It is a well-known fact that Olaosebikan is the most popular, loved and respected among all the aspirants in all the parties. As so many people have said, the pledge made by Olaosebikan that he would triple the votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and win convincingly for all the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates, is realistic.
“Olaosebikan has the capacity, pedigree and political structures and IoUs in all the 10 wards of the federal constituency that would make the realisation not just possible but easy.”
The youth and leaders added: “Having served successfully as the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to a former governor of the state, Chairman of the Oluyole Local Government Area, and currently leading a global public relations firm, Olaosebikan is a name that resonates strongly with the people of Oluyole and beyond.
“Olaosebikan is known for peace, civility, fairness and people-oriented pursuits. He is a man of the people, the quintessential jolly good fellow.”
A former candidate of Accord Party and PDP chieftain, Hon. Prince Funsho Ogunranti had recently told a press conference that with Olaosebikan as the APC candidate, many members of all other parties would move to APC and vote massively for the party.
Olaosebikan is said to be a loyal and committed APC member and served in two major committees of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) in 2023.
He was the face of the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign in Oyo State as the Chairman of its Media and Publicity Committee for Oyo State and South West coordinator for Media and Publicity for the South West Zonal Contact and Mobilisation Committee.
