Benue Varsity VC On Annual Leave, Not Suspended -Mgt

Vice Chancellor (VC), Moses Orshio Adasu University Makurdi (MOAUM), formerly Benue State University Makurdi, Professor Joe Tor Iorapuu, has not been suspended for two months, contrary to reports on some social media platforms, an official statement from the university has explained.

Rather, the university stated, the VC has simply proceeded on annual leave.

A statement from the university management signed by the Public Relations Officer, Dr. (Mrs) Bibiana Ayaban, disclosed that Professor Iorapuu has been granted his annual and overseas leave effective Tuesday, June 10, 2025, with the approval of the university’s Governing Council.

In accordance with university regulations, the Council has appointed Professor Simon Terver Ubwa, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), as Acting Vice-Chancellor during the period.

“We kindly urge members of the university community and the general public to disregard any information not conveyed through the official channels or platforms of the institution,” it stated.
