Rector of Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area (LGA) of Delta State, South-South Nigeria, Professor Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri, has reaffirmed his commitment to providing qualitative and standard education to students of the institution.
Furthermore, he promised to maintain high academic standards.
Professor Ufuophu-Biri, who gave the assurances during the 2025 combined convocation ceremony at the school in Otefe-Oghara, assured that the institution would continue to excel in producing highly skilled manpower for the country’s development.
He revealed that there are many laudable programmes and innovations that would be unfurled and implemented to improve the quality of education of the students.
Recounting his accomplishments in office, the rector said his administration has improved on the structure and learning facilities of the school with the cooperation of the staff and support from the departmental heads and management team, stressing that collective efforts has made the school record the modest achievement.
Professor Ufuophu-Biri, who insisted that the successes and achievements of his administration were due to the cooperation of staff and management of the school, sought more of same to climb higher heights in the years ahead.
He explained that his administration was fully committed to significantly upgrade facilities to continue to strive to uphold and improve on set standards.
He said: “We have introduced several innovations with technological know-how which made our graduates academically sound and competent as well as be innovative in their various vocations and skillful in performance of assigned duty.
“The graduates from Delta State Polytechnic Oghara are competent manpower that can compete favourably with their counterparts anywhere in the world. I am proud of them.”
He expressed joy that his three-year administration has made some remarkable achievements both in academic and technological innovation as well as upgrading the school’s facilities.
The rector was excited that the reforms he embarked upon have yielded fruitful results leading to improved infrastructural projects with prudent management of the available resources.
Though he said there were some difficulties and challenges within the three years, but he added that the school managed to surmount them.
Professor Ufuophu-Biri commended the students for their discipline and diligence in their studies and urged them to work hard to actualize their dreams and aspirations to become more useful citizens in society.
He commended the Delta State Governor, Elder Sheriff Oborevwori for the assistance being given to the school since his assumption of office, assuring that the governor would be present at the convocation ceremony as the Polytechnic’s Visitor.
The rector announced that an administrative block would be named to honour the Governor for all his support to the institution.
The combined convocation lecture titled: ‘Taking Nigeria to the World and the World to Nigeria through Technology and Innovation Education in the Era of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence’ is billed to be delivered by Professor Chux Gervase Iwu, SBDG Chair in Entrepreneurship in Higher Education, Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences, University of the Western Cape, South Africa.
