Environment Minister Presents 2024 Budget Report,Defends 2025 Initiatives Before Federal Lawmakers

Nigeria’s Minister of Environment, Malam Balarabe Abbas Lawal, has presented the ministry’s 2024 budget performance report and defended its 2025 budget before lawmakers at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja.

In a statement, he said the presentation was a crucial step in ensuring that the ministry’s environmental initiatives and projects were adequately funded.

Malam Lawal said his leadership, within the performance period under review, focused on addressing key environmental challenges including climate change, pollution, and conservation.

The ministry’s budget defence presentation highlighted its achievements in 2024, including efforts to promote sustainable development, protect natural resources, and address environmental degradation.

The presentation outlined the ministry’s plans and priorities for 2025, including initiatives such as climate change mitigation and adaptation, efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, promote climate resilience and environmental conservation.

It also highlighted Initiatives to protect and preserve Nigeria’s natural resources, including forests, waterways, and wildlife, as well as pollution control and waste management.

Lawal stated that the event included outlining projects such as “programs to reduce pollution, promote sustainable waste management practices, and ensure environmental health and safety.”

He added: “By presenting the 2024 budget performance report and defending the 2025 budget, the Federal Ministry of Environment demonstrates its commitment to transparency, accountability, and effective environmental governance.”
