*Barca Overcome Frankfurt From Behind By Nick Ames, at Stadio de Bergamo, & Andy Hunter, at San Siro There were no answers to Chelsea’s search for consistency here. Instead there was a late, potentially damaging defeat that leaves them staring down the barrel of a February playoff for the last 16, along with further suggestions they lack what it takes to face down a tough away assignment at this level. Enzo Maresca’s side looked well set when João Pedro scored against the run of play after 25 minutes. Atalanta had begun to flounder before Gianluca Scamacca’s leveller but grew in…

Terrorism In Nigeria And Gains Of The US Threat

Terrorism In Nigeria And Gains Of The US Threat

By SHEDDY OZOENE When the United States named Nigeria a Country of Particular Concern and hinted at possible military action to counter perceived genocide against the country's Christians, many Nigerians were angry. Some saw it as interference; others felt it was an insult to our independence. But behind all the reactions is an uncomfortable truth: the warning pushed our leaders to act. In that sense, it has turned out, it would seem, a blessing in disguise. For years, Nigerians of all backgrounds have lived with the fear of terrorism. Communities have been attacked, people displaced, and whole areas left unsafe…

As Tinubu Continues To Insult Nigerians

As Tinubu Continues To Insult Nigerians

As Tinubu continues to insult Nigerians: Tinubu’s political appointments mirror who he is and his abiding political philosophy. As someone poignantly asked, if he didn’t appoint the likes of Prof Mahmoud, Reno Omokri and Femi Fani-Kayode, people who reflect him in character, attitude, political conduct, and the elasticity of principles, who else? In all Tinubu does, politics trumps governance. What matters is how to strengthen his hold on power, and not the promotion of common good. And even if that translates to insulting Nigerians, so be it. Or how else can it be explained that a congenital liar like Reno…

And Where Are The Traditional Institution And Elders Of Ebira Nation?

By Hon. Aliu Asipita Abdulmuluku It was our elders who said: "The elders cannot be in the marketplace and watch the head of the baby at the back of her mother unattended." Sadly, for a while now, the traditional institutions and elders of the Ebira Nation have gone limp and lame in the face of an attritious political battle that has defied logic and purpose. A once-close confidante of former Governor Yahaya Bello (FGYB) of Kogi State, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has remained locked in horns for the last eight to 10 years with the former Governor's political establishment and legacy.…
