*Advises Tinubu: Don’t Go To US
The lives of the country’s two leading opposition presidential candidates in next year’s general elections may be in grave danger, except they take urgent security precautions, said a prominent seer in Nigeria.
The candidates are Mr Peter Obi and former Vice President (VP) Atiku Abubakar, respectively of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The duo are among candidates seeking to remove President Bola Tinubu from office via the ballot box in the January, 2027 presidential election.
Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, who sounded the danger alert, alleged that some unnamed persons are looking for any means to eliminate Obi and Abubakar, the latter who is fondly known as Atiku.
In a video posted on X, Primate Ayodele warned both politicians to be conscious of their security.
While he did not name those he alleged were plotting to eliminate Obi and Atiku, the cleric said God would not allow it to happen.
“Obi and Atiku, be very conscious of your security. They are looking for any means to eliminate Obi and Atiku.
“But God will never allow it to happen. Watch out and be cautious of your security,” Primate Ayodele warned.
Turning to President Tinubu, the clergyman advised him not to visit the United States (US), alleging that the global superpower was after his downfall.
Presidents, Prime Ministers and Heads of Governments of countries are expected to converge on New York from 22-28 September, 2026, for the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) during the high-level General Debate of the global body, though initial proceedings start on 8 September.
Tinubu is presently abroad on a three-week leave. It is not clear if he will attend the UNGA or not.
